Gavin Croft began home brewing in 2007. For him it was a hobby that quickly turned into an obsession. After completing a Graduate Certificate of Brewing at the University of Ballarat, he landed his first brewing job at Bacchus Brewing Co in 2012. For three years he worked at Newstead Brewing while also gypsy brewing for his own brand Croft Brewing. During that time, he was awarded two Gold, two Silver and two Bronze medals at the Australian International Beer Awards and Craft Beer Awards, as well as dozens of medals as part of the Newstead Brewing team. He was also nominated in the Best Brewer category at the 2017 Beeries for his contribution to the Brisbane beer and cider community.

Gavin, together with Stuart and Lucy Martin, successfully launched Archer Brewing in 2017 which is now located under the International Hotel at Archer’s Bunker. Archer focuses on clean, straightforward, sessionable beers and the range currently includes a Pale Ale, IPA, Lager and Pilsner. You won’t find it any fresher than at the International Hotel!

Archer’s Bunker is open Friday and Saturday from 5:00pm till late for beverages, bar snacks and pizza (last kitchen orders at 8.30pm). It’s the perfect spot for a quiet catch up with mates or an intimate function for 50 people or less and offers a unique view of the operational copper brew and fermentation tanks.
