People all over the world are considering booking a new vacation and then going back to sleep in the hotel. Factors such as cleanliness, safety and flexibility have become of fundamental importance which is why we are observing the new world of hotels with great interest, asking ourselves a specific question: what will it be like to sleep in a hotel during the Coronavirus ? And what new measures are in place to protect guests?
Not so long ago, there were two salient factors when booking: price and location. These things are still important (after all, COVID-19 definitely impacted our travel budget, along with everything else), but they’re no longer critical. Data from Skyscanner’s latest survey, which collected the views of 2,300 travelers around the world, shows that rehabilitation protocols and social distancing measures have rightly become the main concerns. Below, the other results of the survey useful to understand what it will be like to sleep in a hotel during the Coronavirus:
Almost half of people will avoid shared services and common areas.
About two in five travelers will opt for outdoor dining.
About three out of four travelers say that cleanliness and safety practices have become “more important than before”.
30% say loyalty programs have become “less important”.
Which, if approached correctly, could offer those working in the sector the opportunity to reinvent the hotel experience, creating the new future of hospitality .
